Szklarka Waterfall

In the cool hush of mountain forest, the rush of water grows to a steady roar as the Szklarka spills into a rocky bowl. This 13‑metre drop is the second‑tallest waterfall in the Polish Karkonosze, set between Piechowice and Szklarska Poręba. A short path off the Kowarska Road leads through spruce shade and granite boulders to the natural amphitheatre of spray and moss. The stream twists as it falls, polishing stone and feeding a dark, glassy pool at its foot.

Visitors come to linger, to watch eddies curl and light catch on the fall’s white veil. Early mornings can feel almost private; after rain the voice of the water deepens, while winter sometimes rims the ledges with ice. It’s a simple stop that rewards patience and a steady footing. As you roam the Sudetes from a base in Świeradów‑Zdrój, this short detour offers a distinct taste of the neighboring Karkonosze—granite, shade, and the constant, clarifying sound of moving water.
