Pielgrzymy Rocks

Wind scours the high ridge and the light feels extra clear up here, where three porphyritic granite towers rise from the heath like sentinels. Known as the Pielgrzymy Rocks, they stand up to 25 metres high at around 1204 metres in the eastern Silesian Ridge of the Karkonosze. Their faces are fretted by frost and time, lichen-laced and pocked with bowls and ledges. In calm weather they glow warm and honeyed; in a blow they drum with the sound of ravens and rushing air.

Visitors wander between the blocks on marked mountain paths, pausing to peer through narrow clefts that frame the skyline, or to step back and admire the sculptural silhouettes. Early morning and late afternoon bring flattering, slantwise light for photographs; winter rime and fresh snow redraw their outlines, while summer exposes sun-warmed granite and blueberry scrub. Views reach across the main ridge and away to rolling foothills. For travellers based in Świeradów‑Zdrój, these Karkonosze tors offer a striking counterpoint to the quieter forms of the Izera Mountains—another facet of the same granite country, and a reminder that the ranges speak a shared mountain language.
