Liberec Zoo
A hush of leaves and sudden bursts of animal chatter set the tone as you wander shaded paths through Liberec Zoo, the oldest in Czechia, founded in 1904. Set among leafy grounds in Liberec, it unspools as a gentle circuit of enclosures and greenery where the rhythm is stroll, pause, watch. The headline draw is the white tigers, their pale coats catching every scrap of light as they move. Families drift between vantage points, children comparing favorites while adults linger over quiet corners and the everyday theatre of wildlife.
Come early on bright mornings, when the air is cool and animals are most active; or enjoy the long light of summer days for a slower, contemplative loop. Spring leaf-out and autumn color flatter the setting, while a winter visit has its own hush. It’s a straightforward cross-border outing from the Polish side of the Karkonosze and from Świeradów-Zdrój in the Izera Mountains — a change of scene after forest trails and spa promenades, and a reminder that this mountain frontier opens onto a shared, family-friendly playground.
