Green Trail: Świeradów → Izera Meadow
Resin-scented air and the hush of wind in spruce crowns mark the start of the green trail out of Świeradów-Zdrój. Waymarks lead steadily uphill toward the Stóg Izerski ridge, on a mix of broad forest roads and stonier mountain paths. As the town drops away, gaps in the trees frame the soft lines of the Izera Mountains and, on clear days, far-off border hills. Weather shifts quickly up here, so an early start pays off, and the light along the ridge can be gentle in the first hours.
Beyond the crest the path slips into the wide bowl of Hala Izerska, a spacious meadow edged by dark forest and laced with protected peat bogs. The ground feels wilder, the horizon wider; birdsong, mist, and low, wet grasses set the mood. Respect the marked route to protect the fragile mire, and take a breather by the Górzystów hut before turning back — it’s a full day on foot, roughly 18 km there and back. This outing distills Świeradów-Zdrój: clean air, quiet miles, and the steady rhythm of the Izera highlands.
